How to estimate aluminum window costs in India (2026 guide)
If you are quoting an aluminum window project in India, six numbers drive 90% of the price. Get these right and the rest is rounding error.
1. Frame profile and series
Common series: Domal, Schuco, Eternia, Aluplex, Jindal. The price gap between an entry domal and a Schuco thermal-break can be 3x. Decide the series before measuring — don't guess later.
For mid-market residential work in 2026, expect roughly:
- Normal anodised: ₹220–280 per running foot of section
- Powder coated (white/ivory): ₹250–320
- Thermal break (low-E ready): ₹650–900
Prices vary by city and supplier load. Always confirm with your local dealer before quoting.
2. Glass
Glass is usually the single largest line item. The variables:
- Thickness: 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm
- Type: clear / tinted / reflective / Low-E / tempered
- Configuration: single / double-glazed (DGU) / laminated
A 6mm clear sheet is the cheapest base. Going to 6mm tempered Low-E DGU for a high-rise can triple the per-sqft glass cost.
3. Hardware
Often missed in first quotes:
- Multi-point locks (typical for sliding & tilt-turn)
- Friction stays, hinges, handles
- Rollers (for sliders — heavy-duty vs standard)
- Gaskets and EPDM
Budget ₹400–1,200 per panel depending on whether you are using imported (Sobinco, Roto) or domestic hardware.
4. Labor
Fabrication labor varies widely by city. Typical rates:
- Tier 1 (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore): ₹35–55 per sqft
- Tier 2: ₹25–40
- Tier 3 and rural: ₹18–30
Add installation labor on top (usually 30–50% of fabrication).
5. Mesh, transport, wastage
Easy to forget:
- Mosquito mesh (where required): ₹35–60 per sqft
- Transport (per truck or per site visit)
- Wastage: budget 8–12% on sections, 5% on glass
6. Margin
Industry standard for fabrication contractors in India is 18–28% gross margin on residential and 12–20% on volume commercial work.
Common quote mistakes
The fastest way to lose money is to forget hardware, mesh, or wastage on the first quote and then absorb it.
- Skipping wastage entirely (loses ~10% margin instantly)
- Quoting at base section rate without checking current supplier price
- Treating fabrication labor as fixed when site complexity (high floors, restricted access) doubles it
- Forgetting GST when comparing your quote to an exempt informal one
